ACTION:
Approve the creation of a full-time Health Program Manager position to be paid from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Strengthening US Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce and Data Systems Grant. Funds are available within the budget. This position will support the LatinX community.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The department received funding for the CDC - Strengthening US Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce and Data Systems grant. Grant funds will be used for Strategy 1: Workforce and Strategy 2: Foundational Capabilities. These funds will strengthen our public health workforce by hiring, retaining, supporting and training public health staff; enhancing health communication initiatives County-wide, supporting foundational technological capabilities and improving health disparities within Mecklenburg County by supporting planned initiatives to address the impacts of social determinants of health. This funding will strengthen our public health workforce.
