ACTION:

1)  Affirm the submitted application for funding in the amount of  $120,000 from the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) in the General Grant fund (G001) for the grant period of February 5, 2024-September 29, 2024. The application deadline was January 28, 2024.

 

2)  If awarded recognize, receive and appropriate funds for the affirmed amount awarded of $120,000 to the General Grant fund (G001) within Public Health.

 

3)  Adopt the required grant project ordinance for Pediatric Vaccination Coverage through Partnerships with Early Care and Education grant in the General Grant Fund (G001).

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

In partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), NACCHO is pleased to offer a funding opportunity for Local Health Departments (LHD) to improve the health of young children by expanding vaccination coverage through partnerships with Early Care and Education (ECE) programs and other stakeholders.

 

Funds will support the Mecklenburg County Public Health Department Child Health Care Consultants program. Funds will be used towards pediatric vaccination education, child care center vaccine champions and communication campaigns promoting pediatric vaccinations in zip codes with the lowest pediatric vaccination rates.
