Action

ACTION:

1)  Recognize, receive, and appropriate federal grant funds up to $675,000 in the General Grant funds (G001) from Cabarrus Health Alliance as a sub-recipient of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) program within Public Health.

 

2)  Adopt a grant project ordinance for the applicable grant in the General Grant fund.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

The department received funding from the Cabarrus Health Alliance to focus on enhancing local tobacco prevention and control efforts up to $135,000 per year for a 5-year period.  Funds are part of the REACH program a national effort aiming to reduce racial and ethnic health disparities.
