BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
In order to raise community awareness about the prevalence of domestic violence across all races, ages, gender and income levels, to reveal its exorbitant costs, and to show support for the individuals and organizations who provide advocacy, services and assistance to victims, Mecklenburg County, in concert with the City of Charlotte, proclaim October 2019 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. All residents are encouraged to learn about Domestic Violence and the available resources to combat its negative effects.
