BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

The Board of County Commissioners emphasized public engagement as one of the hallmarks of their style of governance, which resulted in the FY2020 Budget process to include an additional budget public hearing, a request for Advisory Board budget input, and a resident budget priority survey. Each of these items were new to the County and resulted in a more engaged budget process and clearer priorities from the public and the Board. The County Manager committed to developing a more formalized strategy for engaging the public in the budget process for FY2021 and future budget cycles.
