BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

This contract is for the renovation of two distinct spaces. One renovation is for the Mecklenburg County Internal Audit Department on the third floor of the Judge Clifton E. Johnson Building (700 E. Fourth St.).  Internal Audit is relocating from the 4th floor of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center. The other renovation is for Victim Assistance at 800 E. Fourth St. (former Civil Courts Building). Victim Assistance is relocating from a temporary location at the same facility.

 

PROCUREMENT BACKGROUND:

On April 24, 2019, Mecklenburg County Asset and Facility Management advertised the project in the Charlotte Observer, the Charlotte Post, and on the State Interactive Purchasing website. The documents were also available for viewing at the Mecklenburg County M/W/SBE office, Metrolina Minority Contractors Association, and the Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas. A pre-bid meeting was held on May 2, 2019. Bids were due on May 29, 2019. Three valid single prime lump-sum bids were received for the proposed renovation work. Tyler 2 was the low bidder in the amount of $1,276,953.
