BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) is a partnership of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) with Mecklenburg County Public Health, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and Central Piedmont Community College for selected CMPD officers to be certified in crisis intervention and use that training in their law enforcement duties to provide safety, services, and jail diversion to behavioral health consumers and their families.
