ACTION:

Recognize, receive, and appropriate:

 

a.  A net increase of $284,079 in federal and state funds from the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) - Division of Public Health (DPH)

 

b.  A decrease of $191,373 from the Mecklenburg Partnership for Children

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

A.                     NC DHHS awards federal and state funds to the Department to support public health programs. The Department received notification that funding has been modified.  The net increase of $284,079 in federal and state funds consist of the following:

 

                     Healthy Communities: a decrease of $5,625                 

                     Family Planning:  an increase of $98,272

                     Refugee Health Assessments: an increase of $10,780

                     TB Control: a decrease of $1,509

                     Breast & Cervical Cancer Control: an increase of $55,200

                     Emergency Overdose: an increase of $17,700

                     NC Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis: increase of $38,000

                     WIC: an increase of $71,261

 

B.                     The Department received notification that funding for the Smart Start Healthy Families program is being reduced. This is a reduction of funding of $191,373.
