BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

Park and Recreation would like to petition NCDOT to abandon maintenance of Hoyt Hinson Road in the Ribbonwalk Nature Preserve. The County owns property on both sides of the road and abandoning this right of way will allow Park and Recreation to maintain the road and enforce hours of operation. The road is contained entirely in the nature preserve and will not impact access to any non-County owned properties. Once the maintenance of the road has been abandoned by NCDOT, staff will petition the City of Charlotte to abandon the right of way and allow the County to become owner of the property.
