BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Janice S. Paige, Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners will be retiring at the end of this year, 2019 with 33 years of dedicated service to Mecklenburg County. She has a total of 35 years of local government service, having worked for the City of Lancaster, S. C. prior to coming to the County. The Clerk to the Board is an appointed position made by the Board of County Commissioners. Staff shared the recruitment plan for filling the position at the June 18, 2019 meeting.
The Board will vote to create an Ad Hoc Committee for the purpose of interviewing and recommending a candidate for the incoming Clerk position. Any recommended candidate selected by the Ad Hoc Committee would require a vote by the full Board to officially appoint the new Clerk. Once hired, the incoming Clerk would train alongside the current Clerk until the current Clerk’s official retirement.
