Title:
Park and Recreation Budget Amendment - Carry Forward of Unspent Invasive Species Funding
Summary
ACTION:
Approve carryforward of funds in the amount of $100,000 from FY19 to FY20 to be used for the cost of Park & Recreation treatment of invasives at three pilot properties.
Staff Contact: Chris Matthews - Division Director of Nature Preserves and Natural Resources
Presentation: No
BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
In order to maximize the treatment of invasives at the three pilot properties, the treatment of the invasive species needs to be done at a time of year when the plants are growing the fastest, which is summer, June-September. When cutting or treating invasives with herbicide, the ability to do this work in the summer months results in the greatest impact to the invasives, resulting in the best kill rate and helps prevent invasives from returning in the future.
