BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
This project is the renovation of the David B. Waymer, Sr. Recreation Center located at Holbrooks Road in Huntersville, North Carolina, between Waymer Park and the Torrence-Lytle School. The renovation includes the existing gym, lobby, restrooms, and the band/agriculture wing.The scope includes a new roof, new HVAC and electrical systems, new windows, new toilets and renovated program spaces
PROCUREMENT BACKGROUND:
This Project was advertised on March 26, 2019 in the Charlotte Post, Charlotte Observer, and the North Carolina Interactive Purchasing System. A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on April 10, 2019.
Bids were received April 23, 2019 with (3) three firms submitting bids. The lowest responsive base bidder was Hoss Contracting, Inc. at $1,978,669. The County has elected to accept alternate 1(renovation of band/agriculture wing) resulting in the total contract amount of $2,190,669 (Bid tab attached).
