Title:
Re-Allocation of FY18 Carryforward Funding (Sheriff's Office)
Summary
ACTION:
Approve the re-allocation of funding in the amount of $24,200 for the purchase of laptops and other equipment and supplies for the Sheriff's Community Engagement Team
Staff Contact: Rachel Vanhoy, Sheriff's Office
Presentation: No
BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
At the regular meeting June 19, 2018, the Board of County Commissioners approved the carry forward funding of $24,200 from fiscal year 2018 to FY 2019 to purchase and train staff to utilize 2 UAV Drones to provide additional perimeter security at the Jail North campus. After further discussions related to the Drone purchase, the Sheriff's Office has re-considered the Drone purchase determining that having the drones will not replace the perimeter checks that occur on scheduled intervals at the Jail North campus or take the place of staff ensuring security at the facility. The Sheriff's Office is requesting that the $24,200 for the drones be re-allocated for the purchase of laptops and other equipment and supplies deemed appropriate for the Sheriff's newly created Community Engagement Team. One of the Sheriff's first initiatives upon taking office was to create the Community Engagement Team. The Community Engagement Team's primary purpose is to build successful relationships and partnerships within the community and maintain open lines of communication.
