BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

Mecklenburg County issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) on November 2, 2018 for engineering support for solid waste needs that are both ongoing and anticipated. Professional Engineering services are necessary for construction/project management oversight, and the preparation and submittal of required documentation in order to provide engineering expertise for the design, operations, regulatory compliance, and management of the existing and future Solid Waste Facilities for the next five (5) years.  Multiple engineering firms will be awarded contracts based upon their area of expertise and required disciplines. The contracts and services will be funded through the operating and capital budget of the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund.

Eleven firms submitted qualification statements in response to the November RFQ. The submittals were reviewed by a Selection Committee comprised of the following:

Bruce Gledhill, PE, External Professional Engineering Representative

Andrew Stienecker, Waste Management Advisory Board Member

Amber Grzymski, PG, County Staff

Joe Hack, QEP, County Staff

Darren Steinhilber, PE, County Staff
