construction completion of Barton Creek Greenway in the amount of $500,000

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
1) On May 1, 2012, the Board of County Commissioners approved acceptance of a NCDOT Grant to help fund Barton Creek Greenway. These funds are given to the CRTPO for locally administered projects. Additional funding is being added to the previously approved grant funding, approved by the Board on 5/1/2012 & 2/6/2018, to fund the construction of Barton Creek Greenway. The
additional grant funding (a total of $500,000) has been made available to this project. This additional funding is critical to the greenway project, which is currently under construction. Schedules for
project starts are determined primarily by NCDOT.
2) This greenway was chosen because it meets the County criteria used to identify the county bond projects as well as CRTPO criteria for funding. It has been included in the statewide TIP
(Transportation Improvement Program).
3) Award of this funding provides citizens of Mecklenburg County the opportunity to reduce the amount of County funding necessary to complete this project. Project grants are reimbursable.
4) These additional NCDOT grant funds will be applied towards the cost of construction. The grant match required from the County, approximately $100,100, is for construction and is described on the attached financial spreadsheet. This is an addition to a reimbursement grant already received from NCDOT and the CRTPO. All required match funds for the project have already been made available under the Capital Improvement Plan, and the total project cost is not to exceed $3,557,472. Total ...
