BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
All members of the Waste Management Advisory Board must be approved by the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners, including slots designated for appointment by Charlotte City Council and the Towns. Two (2) members may be recommended by Charlotte City Council; and one (1) member by each of the Towns. The Waste Management Advisory Board acts in an advisory capacity to the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners. Their purpose is to provide citizen input, evaluations and recommendations of solid waste management issues, in coordination and cooperation with the Solid Waste Unit of Mecklenburg County Land Use and Environmental Services in order to achieve Solid Waste goals and objectives. Charles (Andrew) Stienecker will replace Ollie Frazier, whose term will expire October 31, 2018.
