Summary

ACTION:

1. Approve the submission of a grant application for $6,551,004 in Ryan White Part A funds covering the period of March 1, 2019 through February 28, 2020 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) under the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009 

 

2. If awarded, recognize, receive and appropriate awarded funds; and  

 

3. Approve the allocation process involving regional participation in accordance with HRSA of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services guidelines

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

Under the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009, Part A funds are awarded by HRSA to serve HIV positive patients.  Mecklenburg County is requesting to apply for year twelve (12) funding for patients in the Transitional Grant Area (TGA) consisting of the following counties: Mecklenburg, Anson, Cabarrus, Gaston, Union, and York, SC. Ryan White Part A funding is used to assist this six-county region in developing and enhancing access to a comprehensive continuum of high quality, community-based care for low income individuals and families with HIV disease.  In the current year twelve, twenty-two (22) providers in our region are providing medical or support related services to 2,370 HIV clients in our region during the first five months of the year, as of July 9, 2018.
