BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The County is in the process of finalizing all land needed for the Little Sugar Creek Greenway and Stream Enhancement project that extends from I-485 to the President James K. Polk Historic Site. The project will construct 1.53 miles of greenway trail and stabilize the banks of Little Sugar Creek to prevent further erosion and reduce sediment in the creek.
The City of Charlotte owns two properties (Tax Parcels 207-093-48 and 207-093-47) in Pineville over which the County needs an easement to construct an access trail from Little Sugar Creek Greenway to the intersection of Leitner Drive and Pineville-Matthews Road (NC-51). In addition, the easements will be used to access the greenway trail and stream enhancement construction areas. The City of Charlotte is donating the easements to the County for the project, which is anticipated to begin the latter part of 2018.
