1.                     Approve an application for up to $6,400 for a Health Promotion/Disease Prevention (HPDP) grant from The Area Agency on Aging

 

2.                     If awarded, recognize, receive and appropriate such funds for the grant period

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department is requesting approval to apply for and receive, if awarded, a Health Promotion/Disease Prevention grant for up to $6,400.  The grant awards will be distributed in FY2019 and will be used to continue providing nationally recognized evidenced based HPDP classes at all three Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Senior Centers, some Recreation Centers and other locations in the community. The required 10% match will be fulfilled with salaries of the staff scheduling and/or teaching these classes.  Application for the grant must be submitted to The Area Agency on Aging by June 29, 2018.
