BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

The developer of the Vermillion subdivision in the Town of Huntersville proposes donation of permanent greenway and storm drainage easements to the County for future projects along South Prong Clarke Creek in northern Mecklenburg County. The property is located south of Huntersville-Concord Road and east of Old Statesville Road. Acceptance of the easements will allow the County to build a greenway trail and conduct stream enhancements along this portion of the creek at a later date.  Acquisition of property interests for greenway purposes is supported by the County's adopted Park and Recreation Master Plan and the County’s Land Use and Environmental Services Agency’s (LUESA) long term creek improvement strategies.
