ACTION:
Approve expenditure of $975,000 from the Consolidated Golf Capital Reserve Account for repairs to the following golf courses:
1) $ 30,000 - Harry L. Jones, Sr. Golf Course
2) $390,000 - Sunset Hills Golf Course
3) $355,000 - Charles T. Myers Golf Course
4) $200,000 - Dr. Charles L. Sifford Golf Course

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Mecklenburg County staff have worked with the contractor that maintains the above County Golf Courses covered under the Consolidated Golf Capital Reserve Account and have established the following repair list to help preserve and offer quality courses to the public.
1) $30,000 - Harry L. Jones, Sr. Golf Course
a. Paint and replace carpet for needed updates to the clubhouse and snack bar
2) $390,000 - Sunset Hills Golf Course
a. $65,000 for repairs and replacement of finishes to the exterior and interior of the clubhouse
b. $240,000 for asphalt paving of cart paths
c. $85,000 for turf repairs and green covers to address severe winterkill and prevent future damage
3) $355,000 - Charles T. Myers Golf Course
a. $40,000 for asphalt repairs
b. $25,000 for painting, window replacements and lightning protection at the clubhouse
c. $290,000 to replace all 18 greens with Mini Verde Ultra Dwarf Bermudagrass and leveling of tee boxes
4) $200,000 - Dr. Charles L. Sifford Golf Course
a. Add to and improve the net fencing along Barringer Drive next to the driving range to improve safety for citizens and
property near the driving range
Work on the greens at Sunset Hill would begin immediately as funded and completed late spring/early summer of this year. The greens replacement at Charles T. Myers would begin changeover in mid to late July.
