BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The draft of Mecklenburg County's 2018 Legislative Agenda was reviewed by the Board’s Intergovernmental Relations Committee at its April 24, 2018 meeting. The proposed 2018 Legislative Agenda will be considered by the full Board at the May 1st Regular Meeting.
If adopted and subsequently achieved, policy impacts would include the following: efficient implementation and full funding for the elimination of Pre-K waiting lists statewide; funding for additional magistrates to enable safer and more adequate service in the northern portion of the county; resources to fully implement the 2017 Juvenile Justice Reinvestment Act; increased state funding for teacher salaries, and approval of a school capital bond enabling funding for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools capital needs.
