BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

McAlpine Creek Greenway is a planned greenway in south Charlotte. The section of McAlpine Creek Greenway for which this property is needed is anticipated to extend from McAlpine Creek Greenway on Providence Road, which is currently in design, to Colony Road.  At build-out, this section of McAlpine Creek Greenway will be approximately 2 miles long. The trail will connect additional residential neighborhoods to existing McAlpine Creek Greenway which connects to McAlpine Creek Regional Park and Campbell Creek Greenway.

The subject property is being donated to the County from James F. King, III and John M. Gazak.  The property is vacant and located entirely in the floodplain.  Acquisition of land for greenway purposes is supported by the County's adopted Park and Recreation Master Plan.
