BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

This contract is for the renovation of the third and fourth floors of the Judge Clifton E. Johnson Building (700 E. Fourth St.). The renovated spaces will be occupied by the Mecklenburg County Financial Services Department (relocating from multiple locations), Vital Records (relocating from Walton Plaza), and the Enterprise Project Management Office (relocating from the Valerie C. Woodard Center).

 

 

PROCUREMENT BACKGROUND:

On October 24, 2017, Mecklenburg County Asset and Facility Management advertised the project in The Charlotte Observer, The Charlotte Post, and the State Interactive Purchasing website. The documents were also available for viewing at the Mecklenburg County M/W/SBE office, Metrolina Minority Contractors Association, and the Hispanic Contractors Association of the Carolinas. A pre-bid meeting was held on November 9, 2017. Bids were due on November 22, 2017, and five valid single prime bids were received for the proposed construction work. Tyler 2 Construction was the low bidder in the amount of $1,416,415.
