BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners approved an FY17 expenditure of $2.5 million for the renovation of the Historic Second Ward High School Gymnasium, one of the last remaining remnants of Charlotte’s first public high school for African American students. The gymnasium floor was damaged beyond repair during construction activities. An insurance claim was filed and settled in the amount of $105,000 to replace the gym floor.
