BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) allocated a total of $1,980,000 to Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services (DSS) in Federal revenue for the Job Boost subsidized employment program.  The program purpose is to provide job placements for TANF-eligible individuals who need work experience necessary to acquire and maintain long-term employment.  The original placement goal was 300 participants; as of March 23, 2012, Mecklenburg County Job Boost II program has placed 411 participants, 111 more than the original goal, with the number of participants permanently hired as a result of the program is 44.  The additional funds will be used for program participants who are currently working and, when possible, for short-term placements.  Currently, there are 109 participants who are working until May 31.
