Amend the FY2027 Budget Ordinance to appropriate $334,364.37 of Charlotte ETJ Fire District (9021) Fund Balance for the West Mecklenburg Volunteer Fire Department’s replacement of SCBA Air-Paks.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
LUESA is requesting Fund Balance to cover the replacement of SCBA Air-Paks for the West Mecklenburg Volunteer Fire Department (VFD). This funding would be added to the FY2027 capital allocation for the West Mecklenburg VFD. Current Air-Paks are technologically outdated and incompatible with surrounding fire departments. Replacement to newer Air-Paks with current technology allows for interoperability with mutual aid fire departments and increases firefighter safety and survivability in the event of an emergency.
The amount requested for additional funding is $334,364.37, sourced from the Charlotte ETJ Fire District Fund, and will cover the full cost of the SCBA Air-Paks (in the attached quote).
