BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The existing Board of Elections office at Kenilworth Ave. does not have any back-up power in the event of a power interruption. A new Generator is necessary to keep the IT equipment, telephones, lighting and Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning functional during a power outage that might be experienced during an election.
PROCUREMENT BACKGROUND:
This project was advertised in the Charlotte Observer on September 9, 2024, and the Charlotte Post, the Greater Diversity News and the North Carolina electronic Vendor Portal (eVP) on September 19, 2024. A Pre-bid meeting was held on September 26, 2024, and a total of four (4) bids were received and opened on October 22, 2024. Based on the lump sum base bid, plus contingency allowance and Alternate #E1, the lowest responsive, responsible bidder was Carrick Contracting Corporation in the amount of $569,680.00.

The Mecklenburg County Office of Economic Development - Business Diversity and Inclusion (BDI) Division - determined that Carrick Contracting Corporation demonstrated a Good Faith Effort for MWBE Subcontractor utilization.
