1) Affirm the submission of $8,000 grant from the NC State Historic Preservation Office

 

2) Recognize, receive and appropriate fund in the awarded amount for CLG grant revenue in the  General Grant Fund G001

 

3) Adopt the required grant project ordinance for the grant in the General Grant Fund G001

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

The grant project is to hire a qualified consultant to complete a structural engineering report for the Palmer Fire Tower located at 2601 E. 7th Street in Charlotte. The tower is a contributing structure on the campus of the National Register-listed Palmer Fire School. The report will fully assess the existing conditions and provide recommendations for stabilization and rehabilitation. All work will follow the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The required match of $3,200 will be met through the Historic Landmarks Department operational budget and the non-profit Charlotte Firefighters Association.
