BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

It has been recommended by a board member that appointments to the reconstituted Lake Norman Marine Commission (LNMC) be made only after candidates have been interviewed by an ad-hoc committee of the Board of Commissioners. If the Board adopts this recommendation it becomes  necessary for the current appointment policy to be amended.

In light of that recommendation, it was recommended by a Board member that appointments to any Marine Commission be interviewed by an ad-hoc BOCC committee. This would include the Lake Wylie Marine Commission as well. The recommendation is to amend "Section 2.D Nomination Process" to include the requirement of the Board's interview process for both the Lake Norman and Lake Wylie Marine Commissions.
