BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The subject property owner, Parkside Townhomes LLC, has proposed donating a portion of Tax Parcel 199-065-56 (+/- 3.118 acres), as required for rezoning purposes, for a future local park in the City of Charlotte. The land is located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Parkside Crossing Drive and Steele Creek Road in the southwestern portion of Mecklenburg County.
The donation by Parkside Townhomes, LLC, will provide the County with an opportunity to construct a small local park that will serve residents of the proposed townhome community as well as nearby neighborhoods, including Cedar Ridge and Waterlyn.
The donation is consistent with the goals of the Meck Playbook that calls for the addition of parkland, greenway and open space within the County. It is also consistent with the County’s Environmental Leadership Action Plan.
