ACTION:
1) Recognize, receive and appropriate an increase in Adoption Promotion funding in the amount of $217,483 to the General Grants Fund (G001) within the Department of Child, Family and Adult Services; and
2) Adopt a grant project ordinance for the Adoption Promotion Program in the General Grant Fund (G001)

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The North Carolina Division of Social Services has provided additional funding in the amount of $217,483 for the Adoption Promotion Fund to Mecklenburg County Youth and Family Services Division of the Department of Child, Family and Adult Services. No local match is required as a condition for receipt of these funds. The purpose of the funds is to enhance and expand adoption services, to secure permanent homes for hard to place children, and to promote public/private partnerships. Allowable uses for these funds include Adoption Services, Adoption Recruitment, Assessment and Training of Adoptive Parents and Post Adoption Case Management. The funds cannot be used to supplement the salaries of current county employees.
