BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The subject property owner, Townes at Lemmond Farms LLC, has proposed donating a portion of Tax Parcel 111-461-13 (+/- 0.53 acres), as required for rezoning purposes, for a future local park in the City of Charlotte. The land is located east of Bending Branch Road, west of Interstate 485, and north of Albemarle Road in eastern Mecklenburg County near the Mint Hill area.
The donation by Lemmond Farms LLC. will provide the County with an opportunity to construct a small local park that will serve surrounding residents, including those within the proposed town home community and nearby neighborhoods, such as the Woodbury Subdivision.
The donation is consistent with the goals of the Meck Playbook that calls for the addition of parkland, greenway and open space within the County. It is also consistent with the County’s Environmental Leadership Action Plan.
