BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Robert Hillman, the Board’s private sector representative on the Centralina Economic Development Commission (CEDC), resigned because of other commitments. Commissioner Susan Harden is the Board’s public sector representative. The process for appointment is that the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners makes a recommendation to the Centralina Council of Governments Board of Directors, the appointing body for the CEDC. The CEDC is a 501c3 organization serving the greater Charlotte region and supporting the key activities proposed in the Centralina Regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy. The strategy outlines an approach to regional growth and prosperity that builds on the region’s strengths, emphasizes key regional industry clusters, and prioritizes economic development projects.
