BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The subject property owner, Twin Lakes CLT Project Owner, LLC, has proposed donating Tax Parcel 025-062-09 (+/- 5.35 acres), as required for rezoning purposes, for a future local park in North Charlotte.
The land is located in a rapidly densifying mixed commercial and residential area along the Interstate 77 and Statesville Road corridors in Charlotte and Huntersville.
Two stormwater retention ponds are located in the southern portion of the site, and an unnamed tributary of Dixon Branch flows from northeast to southwest across the southern portion of the site.
The donation by Twin Lakes, LLC will provide the County with an opportunity to construct a small local park that will serve surrounding residents, including those within the proposed multi-family community.
The donation is consistent with the goals of the Meck Playbook that calls for the addition of parkland, greenway and open space within the County. It is also consistent with the County’s Environmental Leadership Action Plan.
