BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
This contract will provide construction services for improving the existing Shuffletown Park site. Components include grading & storm drainage, concrete walking paths, planting, splashpad/pumphouse, installation of prefabricated shelters, site furnishings and construction of a basketball court.
PROCUREMENT BACKGROUND:
This project was advertised in the Charlotte Post, the Charlotte Observer, the Greater Diversity News, and listed on the North Carolina Interactive Purchasing System website on September 3, 2026. A pre-bid meeting was held on September 10, 2026. Seven bids were received on September 29, 2026. Based on the lump sum base bid, plus contingency allowance, unit cost allowance and accepting Alternates 1 & 2, the lowest responsive, responsible bidder was Fairwood Construction in the amount of $1,486,913.00.
