BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

On July 26, 1990,  the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law ensuring the civil rights of people with disabilities. This legislation established a clear and comprehensive national mandate for the elimination of discrimination against individuals with disabilities. Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte celebrate the passage of the landmark legislation and reaffirm to continue work to improve the quality of life for all people with disabilities in our community.
