BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

Mecklenburg County, along with several counties and municipalities in North Carolina, joined thousands of local governments across the country to file lawsuits against opioids manufactures and pharmaceutical distribution companies and chain drug stores. Proposed settlements have been reached with eight additional pharmaceutical and small manufacturer companies.  To participate in the National Opioids Settlement Agreement, it is necessary to sign a participation agreement.
