BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

Leadership from the NC General Assembly passed HB307 in response to the murder of Iryna Zarutska on the light rail. The bill provides for amendments to current procedures for involuntary commitment, pretrial release, and the addition of ten new district attorney positions and five new full-time legal assistant positions
