BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department would like to name this section of Little Sugar Creek Greenway as "Zeiss Green on Little Sugar Creek Greenway" to honor and recognize Dr. Tony Zeiss, President of CPCC, for his leadership on the Little Sugar Creek Greenway Action Committee over the past 12 years.  Dr. Zeiss pulled together community leaders and worked to guide and clear the way for the greenway and stream restoration to be achieved.  Dr. Zeiss is also instrumental in forming the Trail of History, which will place 21 sculptures along Little Sugar Creek to remember and celebrate the people who had significant impact on the development of Mecklenburg County.  The naming request was endorsed at the February 13, 2012 Greenway Advisory Council Meeting and at the February 15, 2012 Park and Recreation Commission meeting.
