BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

The Board of County Commissioners adopted an Opioid Settlement resolution on May 20, 2025, directing expenditures of the County's settlement proceeds.

The County received a recommendation from the Community Opioid Resources Engine (CORE-NC), a collaborative partnership between NCDOJ, NCACC, UNC and NCDHHS that oversees Opioid Settlements, to revise the resolution and include text regarding Naloxone Distribution funding that was in the initial Opioid Settlements Wave 1 resolution in May 2023. The funding for Naloxone Distribution had already been expended, but CORE-NC wanted to include this text to be consistent with the earlier resolution.

There was also a funding number correction under item 2(d) for Evidence Based Addiction Treatment on page 3 of the document. The number in this section was updated from $4.5M to 4.25M to align with the correct amount that was listed on page 2 of the resolution.

These textual updates to the Wave 1 Resolution do not change or alter the total fiscal amount approved in the May 20, 2025 resolution.
