Award a construction contract to TEAM Mechanical LLC in the amount of $979,100.00

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

The existing boilers in the New Courthouse have become obsolete and are requiring multiple repairs to remain operational.  Many of the required parts needed for repairs are no longer available. Consequently, both boilers need to be replaced.

 

 

PROCUREMENT BACKGROUND:

This project was advertised in the Charlotte Post, the Charlotte Observer, the Greater Diversity News, and the North Carolina electronic Vendor Portal (eVP) on February 22, 2024. Pre-bid meetings were held on February 29, 2024 and April 12, 2024. A total of three (3) bids were received and opened on May 21, 2024.  Based on the lump sum base bid, plus contingency allowance, the lowest responsive, responsible bidder was TEAM Mechanical LLC in the amount of $979,100.00. 

 

Anticipated BDI Utilization: 5.72%

Sub-Contractor MWBE Goal:                     MBE 1%                     WBE 2%

TEAM Mechanical LLC intends to self-perform work with their own forces and subcontract with non-MWBE subcontractors for a total of 94.28% of the work. The remaining 5.72% of the work is to be subcontracted with MWBE subcontractors at the following participation levels: MBE: 0%, WBE: 5.72%. The Mecklenburg County Office of Economic Development - Business Diversity and Inclusion (BDI) Division - determined that TEAM Mechanical LLC demonstrated a Good Faith Effort for BDI utilization.
