ACTION:

Amend the fiscal year 2027 Annual Budget Ordinance to recognize, receive, and appropriate a donation of $20,000.00 from the American Heart Association to the General Fund (0001) within the Park and Recreation Department.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

The American Heart Association has awarded $20,000.00 funding to Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation to strengthen cardiac emergency preparedness at multiple PRK locations.  Funding will support the purchase of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and related equipment, including protective cases and signage as well CPR & First Aid in Youth Sports Kits. The funds will support the following locations:

 

•                     Clarks Creek Park

•                     Blythe Boat Landing

•                     WR Davie Park Athletic Fields

•                     Ballantyne Patk Athletic Fields

•                     Berry Hill Park Athletic Fields

•                     Independence Park Athletic Fields

•                     Clanton Park Athletic Fields
