BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

The subject property owner, MRP TMHCBTR, LLC has proposed donating a Permanent Greenway Easement over a portion of Tax Parcels 025-281-24A/B and 025-281-25 for future Dixon Branch Greenway in City of Charlotte’s Extraterritorial Jurisdiction. The land is located between Alexandriana Road and Interstate 485, east of Northlake Centre Pkwy and west of the Autumn Field Drive. The land is vacant and mostly treed with a few open fields. County owned parkland, Northlake Area Property is situated on the east side of Mount Holly Huntersville Road and north of Alexandriana Road, across the street from the proposed donation.

The donation given by MRP TMHCBTR, LLC will allow the County to construct an expansion of the future greenway in this area and provide access for the residents in the new Alexandriana single and multi-family residential development.

The donation is consistent with Park and Recreation’s Greenway Master Plan that calls for the addition of parkland, greenway and open space within the County. It is also consistent with the County’s Environmental Leadership Action Plan.
