BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The Larry King's Clubhouse: Children's Play & Care Center, located at 832 East 4th Street, Charlotte, NC 28202, is a nonprofit children’s play and care center. it is a 2,172 square foot space located inside the Mecklenburg County Courthouse (Tax Parcel No. 125-031-01). The daycare has been operating in the courthouse for several years and this lease will formalize the arrangement with the organization. The daycare’s primary mission is to provide free, drop-in childcare services in a safe enriching environment for children while improving access to the justice system for families who might otherwise face barriers to attending court-related business and proceedings due to childcare needs.
In addition to fostering a more equitable access to the justice system for litigants, the daycare supports judges, attorneys, and court staff as well by allowing for the smooth operation of court proceedings by providing an alternative location for children during proceedings. The lease terms are as follows:
Initial Lease term - Five (5) years from the effective date
Option to renew - One option to extend the Lease Term for an additional period of four (4) years and three hundred and sixty-four (364) days.
Base Rent - $0.00
Rent Escalation - None
Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday from 8AM - 5PM
