BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:

MCAPCO provides for the administration and enforcement of an air pollution control program for the protection of the environment and protection of the public health and applies throughout Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, including but not limited to all cities, towns, hamlets, and villages whether incorporated or unincorporated. 

 

Revisions have been proposed by Mecklenburg County Air Quality involving adjustments to permitting and compliance monitoring fees found in MCAPCO Regulation 1.5231 - “Air Quality Fees.”  Notice of the proposed fee revisions was made directly to affected facilities.  On April 16, 2024, a public review and comment period was opened by the Board and a public hearing was held on May 23, 2024.  This request is for adoption of the revised fee regulation.   

 

 

PROCUREMENT BACKGROUND:

POLICY IMPACT:

Revised fees provide the minimum funding necessary to sustain industrial source permitting, inspections, and ambient air monitoring by the Air Quality Division.

 

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Fiscal Year 2025 impact of $73,772 will be funded by 100% Air Quality fees.
