BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
This action will allow the Sheriff to award the service weapon of Deputy Sylvia Deese to surviving relatives, Gene Deese (Spouse) and/or Chad Deese (Son - a Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office Dispatcher) as provided by G.S. 20-187.2 at the purchase price of $409.00. Historically, this has been the customary practice, and in order to comply with the general statute, the Sheriff is requesting the Board of County Commissioners' approval.
