BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Mecklenburg County Asset & Facility Management and Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation need a general contractor for the renovation of L.C. Coleman Park in the Washington Heights neighborhood. This construction contract will include a refurbished parking lot, park paths, a new trail system with neighborhood connections, a new enhanced playground, and planting. The anticipated construction period will be approximately 9 months.



PROCUREMENT BACKGROUND:
On August 15, 2024, Mecklenburg County Asset and Facility Management advertised the project in the Charlotte Observer, the Charlotte Post, the Greater Diversity News, and the State Interactive Purchasing website. A pre-bid meeting was held on August 22, 2024. Three (3) valid, single prime bids were received on September 12, 2024. Husky Construction Corporation was the low bidder with a total bid in the amount of $1,124,000.00, which includes base bid, contingency, and alternate 1.
