BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
Groninger USA, LLC, (Groninger) is a leading international manufacturer of filling and closing machines for the pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare and cosmetics industries. The company is considering an expansion of its assembly and manufacturing capabilities that is driven by market growth.

Groninger has more than 42 years of experience in the filling and closing manufacturing industry. Since 1980 they have brought groundbreaking patents onto the market such as the rotary piston pump, the tub opening system, and the tub decontamination chamber.

The company also employs over 1,500 people at three locations: Crailsheim, Schnelldorf (Germany), and Charlotte, NC.

Groninger USA, LLC, proposed project meets all the following grant guidelines for a 5-year Business Investment Program (BIP) Grant, specifically:

· A new taxable investment of $15,140,000 to be completed in the next two years.
· Creation of 60 new jobs with an average wage of $76,037 (which is equal or greater than 100% of the average SOC codes for each job position for the Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill M.S.A.).
· The project also includes the retention of 112 jobs at an average wage of $84,401.
· There is competition for this project from Greenville, SC., and Columbus, OH.
