BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION:
The Board of County Commissioners has received a series of presentations over the past year regarding transitioning the vacant county facility located at 2324 LaSalle Street into a community center to house a nonprofit(s), tasked with turning this facility into a hub of upwards economic mobility.
Following a competitive application process, the Urban League of Central Carolina was to establish this center with their proposed Urban Spark Initiative-- a workforce development program for local students, designed to foster an ecosystem of economic mobility in the area.
This presentation, introduced by county staff then delivered by the Urban League of Central Carolina, will provide an overview of this Urban Spark Initiative and the key partners involved
